Thousands of Visitors from All Over Attend the Grand Vu Lan Festival at Binh Duong Cemetery Park
The Vu Lan Festival is an annual event organized by Chanh Phu Hoa Construction Investment Joint Stock Company and the Binh Duong Province Buddhist Association, attracting thousands of visitors from all over to participate, reflecting the Vietnamese tradition of "When you eat a fruit, think of the man who planted the tree”.

The ritual of inviting monks and representatives

On August 16, 2024, corresponding to the 14th day of the seventh lunar month in the Year of the Dragon, the Grand Vu Lan Festival was held at Binh Duong Cemetery Park, a cultural event deeply connected to the Vietnamese tradition of " When you eat a fruit, think of the man who planted the tree”.
In attendance were Mrs. Tran Thi Hong Hanh, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bình Dương Province; Mr. Tran Duc Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs and Head of the Religious Affairs Committee; People's Armed Forces Hero Nguyen Van Tau (also known as Tu Cang, a spy in General Pham Xuan An's network); former Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Minh Duc; along with leaders from Ben Cat City and Chanh Phu Hoa Ward. Thousands of visitors from all over, including families with loved ones resting at Bình Dương Cemetery Park (located in Chánh Phú Hòa Ward, Ben Cat City, Binh Duong Province), also attended.

Monks presided over the ceremony

The ceremony was presided over by Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Head of the Legal Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Head of the Bình Dương Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Board. He delivered a sermon on the nation's cultural traditions and the exemplary filial piety of Venerable Maudgalyāyana (Muc Kien Lien) in Buddhist culture.
The Vu Lan Festival is an occasion for children to return to their parents and roots, expressing gratitude and filial piety. It is also a time for forgiveness, bringing people closer together in love and moving toward a better future. Participants and visitors at the ceremony shared their emotions during the ritual of pinning a rose on their clothing, a gesture to honor parents and ancestors and to share love with others.

On this occasion, the venerable monks took time to pray for the souls of the compatriots, soldiers, and those resting at the cemetery park, wishing them a peaceful rebirth in the afterlife.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chanh Phu Hoa Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (the developer of Bình Dương Cemetery Park), stated: "This traditional festival is maintained annually by Binh Duong Cemetery Park to provide visitors and families with loved ones resting here an opportunity to express their filial piety toward their parents and ancestors. It is also a chance for descendants to gather, tend to the graves of their parents and grandparents, and uphold the cultural traditions of our nation”.
