In the morning of February 22^nd 2019, the delegates of Asian Development Bank (ADB) had a meeting with the Binh Duong provincial people committee to consider cooperating in implementing water environment projects in this province.

At the meeting, Mr. Vijay Padmanabhan, Director of ADB's Urban Development and Industry highly appreciated the determination of Binh Duong province's leadership in implementing local water environment projects. ADB wishes to work with Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee to research and discuss to implement the Southern Binh Duong sewerage project with an investment of USD 25 million. ADB also wishes to cooperate with the province to develop Binh Duong smart city in the future.

Mr. Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee shared that the total GRDP product of Binh Duong increased about 9.01% (planned 8.5%) in 2018; GRDP per capita reached VND 130.8 million/ plan of VND 130 million. The province has attracted nearly 3,500 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of over USD 31 billion, ranking third in the whole country (after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi).

Currently, the province is striving to become Binh Duong's urban type 1 by 2020. Besides economic development, Binh Duong is also interested in solving social and civil issues; in particular, the province desperately needs capital to develop in the field of water supply and sewerage, environmental treatment.

Currently Binh Duong has implemented the construction of concentrated wastewater treatment in Thu Dau Mot city and a part of Di An and Thuan An towns. Therefore, to synchronously connect wastewater treatment system, Binh Duong needs more sources of investment cooperation capital. Over the years, ADB has supported and recognized the evaluation of the effectiveness of projects that the unit has cooperated with the province. Therefore, the province wishes ADB to continue to pay attention to deploy new projects in Binh Duong; in which, Southern Binh Duong sewerage project.

After the meeting, ADB delegation has worked with Binh Duong Water Environment Joint Stock Company to continually discuss and consider issues that related to the cooperation of the new Southern Binh Duong wastewater treatment project.
