Being firstly approved at the Decision No. 3990/QĐ-CT dated October 15th, 2003, South Binh Duong Solid Waste Treatment Complex project has been carried out by Binh Duong Water Supply Sewerage Environment Co., Ltd (BIWASE) with implementation period lasting from 2003 to end of 2014. However, due to much pressure on environmental pollution and waste treatment, the Complex was opened to receive municipal waste for sanitary landfilling.

Due to many changes on escalation and economic crisis, the project was many times adjusted and re-approved. The latest adjustment was approved at the Decision No. 751/QD-UBND, dated March 21st, 2012 with total investment cost of 16,655,077 EUR. Stucture of investment cost comprises: Local budget 57.24%, ODA from Finland Governmnet 42.76%.

Composting Plantis one of main items under the project and construction of this plant was started in December 2011. After more than 1 year of construction, the plant has been completed and taken into commision since May 2013. With approval by Binh Duong PPC, South Binh Duong Solid Waste Treatment Complex is going to be inaugurated on the coming date 20th, September 2013, basically meeting requirement on waste treatment in Binh Duong province.

The Complex comprises 2 main items (i): municipal treatment area where municipal waste is treated and recycled to become compost with a composting plant having capacity of 420 ton/dayand a leachate treatment plant with capacity 480 m3/hr, after treatment process, quality of treated leachate meets requirement of class A; (ii): industrial and hazadous treatment area with treating capacity of 500 ton/day. Items in this area include: receiving house, classifying house, sanitary land fill, industrial incinerator and hazadous incinerator, chemical treatment area, fresh concrete area, brick manufacturing area.

In the Complex, municipal waste will be recycled to become compost, serving for argriculture in Binh Duong and surrounding provinces. Leachate is completely treated so that quality after being treated is in compliance with class A. Industrial waste and hazadous waste will be mixed together for burning. Ash from burning process will be mixed to make fresh concrete, self-insert brick and 4- hole- brick. Heat from incinerator is collected to make power, contributing to reducing cost paid for network electricity.

The Complex’s yard is constructed in a logical way with clean and beautiful functional areas. Ordor from the Complex is not significant and residents living in surrounding area always give their support and good attitude to the Complex.

The inauguration of South Binh Duong Solid Waste Treatment Complex on the coming date September 20th, 2013will sinificantly contribute to protecting the environment, improving sanitary conditions and protecting health of people living in Binh Duong as well as in surrounding areas, concurrently contributing to attracting investors, leading Binh Duong to develop quickly and powerfully in national industrialization and modernization process.
