1.1 Project name: Southern Binh Duong Province Water Environment Improvement Project – Phase II

1.2 Financier/Sponsor:Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

1.3 The Employer: Binh Duong Water Supply-Sewerage-Environment Co., Ltd (BIWASE)

1.4 Tentative time for project implementation: 2011-2019

1.5 Project location: Thu Dau Mot city and Thuan An town.

1.6 Project objective, scope and investment

1.6.1 Project objective:

+ The objective of the Project is to increase the sewerage coverage in southern Binh Duong Province and to prevent the declining water quality of Saigon River, by expanding and constructing urban sewerage systems, thereby contributing to the improvement of living conditions and water source protection of Ho Chi Minh City and its surrounding areas

+ Applied discharge standard: column A in accordance with the National Technical Regulation on Domestic Wastewater (QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT) by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE)

1.6.2 Project scope:

+ Thu Dau Mot city.(Area :1911 ha)

• Thu Dau Mot city includes the remaining areas that not yet implemented in Phase I: Chanh Nghia (381 ha), Hiep Thanh (180 ha), Phu Loi (271 ha), Phu Hoa (412 ha) and Phu Tho (347 ha).

• An Thanh ward – Thuan An town (320 ha).

• A part of Thuan Giao ward – Thuan An town: with area of 45 % population approx: 37,500 people (data to 12/2010).

+ Thuan An town.( Area:3163 ha)

• Lai Thieu ward.

• A part of An Phu ward: with area of 55% population approx 31,000 people (data to 12/2010).

• A part of Thuan Giao ward – Thuan An town: with area of 48.7% population approx 40.000 people (data to 12/2010).

• Binh Hoa ward.

• Vinh Phu ward.

• Collect domestic wastewater from surrounding public works of Thuan An town.
