Two Vietnamese Stocks Added to the MSCI Frontier Market Index

In the August review, the MSCI Frontier Market Index added two Vietnamese stocks, BWE and NAB, to its portfolio, while removing two other stocks, EVF and NT2.
As a result, the MSCI Frontier Market Index's portfolio increased by 3 stocks in the August review, bringing the total to 212 stocks

NAB, the stock of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank), is the only banking stock that was newly listed on the HOSE (Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange) earlier this year. According to the consolidated financial statement for Q2 2024, the bank reported a pre-tax profit of 1,216 billion VND, a 37.4% increase compared to the same period last year. For the first six months of the year, Nam A Bank's pre-tax profit reached 2,217 billion VND, marking a 45.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023, achieving 55.4% of its 2024 annual target
As for BWE, the stock of Binh Dương Water – Environment Corporation - Joint Stock Company (BIWASE), it has been recommended for purchase by several securities companies, with a target price of 50,900 VND per share in 2024. Currently, BWE's stock price closed at 41,950 VND per share on the trading session of August 13.
In terms of business performance, BIWASE reported a profit of 302 billion VND in the first six months of 2024, a decrease of 9% compared to year over year.
Currently, BIWASE is focused on implementing two projects to expand its water supply systems in Chon Thanh (increasing capacity to 60,000 m³/day) and Long An (increasing capacity to 180,000 m³/day). Simultaneously, the company is preparing documentation to commence the construction of a 13MW waste-to-energy plant at the Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex.
Recently, BIWASE has also secured several large public utility contracts in Binh Duong, including a contract for the collection, transportation, and treatment of household solid waste in Thuan An City for 2024, valued at 155.298 billion VND, and a contract for urban sanitation services in Thu Dau Mot City for 2024, valued at 185 billion VND.

As of July 31, Vietnam remains the highest-weighted country in the MSCI Frontier Market Index, with a weight of 25.39%. Romania is in second place with 13.67%. Among the top 10 stocks by weight in the index, Vietnam is represented by two stocks: HPG and VHM, ranked 4th and 9th, respectively
