On Oct. 06th, Mr. Ousmane Dione-Director of Water Section-Pacific Asian Region of the World Bank (WB) -had a working session in Binh Duong province. Accompanying with Mr. Ousmane were members of a technical assistance team led by Mr. Lixin Gu. This team comprised experts on bidding procurement, society and water and this team will give some technical supports to BIWASE in implementing project.

Purpose of this visit is to get to know on preparation for Di An drainage and waste water treatment project so that the Bank can put it into an additional financed list of year 2015, which is under Viet Nam urban drainage and waste water project.

On behalf of Binh Duong PPC leaders, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem-Vice Chairman- warmly welcomed this visit of the Mission. The Vice Chairman released that Di An drainage and waste water treatment project is one of very urgent projects in Binh Duong province in generally and in Di An town in particularly. This is a project under calling for investment support from international organizations. The Vice Chairman expressed his desire that the WB will consider and support Binh Duong in investing this project, contributing to protecting the environment in Dong Nai river’s basin and improving living standars of local residents.

Responsing to Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Mr. Ousmane Dione expressed his impression on quick and dynamic development of Binh Duong province. He also highly evaluated on urgency of Di An drainage and waste water treatment project. After this visit, the Mission will make a report to the WB’s leaders to early deploy implementation of this project.

On the same day, the WB mission also made a site study tour at project area and met local residents. All residents living at the project area expressed their expectation that the project will be soon implemented to improve the environment, contributing to improve living standards of local residents.
