On Oct.31st, 2015, at BinhDuong Exhibition Conference Center, the 5th national Congress, term 2015-2020, of Viet Nam Water supply and Sewerage Association was successfully held by Binh Duong Water Supply Sewerage Environment Co., Ltd.

In relating to representatives coming from central authorities, the Congress honorably received a big beautiful flower basket from Former President Nguyen Minh Triet. Former Minister of Construction Ministry-Mr. Nguyen Hong Quan, Ms. PhanThi My Linh–Vice Minister of the MOC- together with representatives from Ministries and international organizations such as Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA), World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and DEVIWAS project (German) were also present at the Congress.

For representatives from Binh Duong authorities, Mr. Mai The Trung-Member of Central Party Committee-Leader of Provincial Parliament Delegation, Mr. Tran Van Nam- Provincial Party Committee Secretary-Chairman of Binh Duong PPC, Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, former Provincial Party Committee Secretary and representatives from provincial authorities and about 600 representatives from nationalwater utilities of 63 provinces and cities also attended the Congress. This is time for VWSA to review on what have been done and prepare new targets as well as directions for their plan in the coming term. A summary report of term IV and course of action of term V were also approved at the Congress. A new central steering board of VWSA-term 2015-2020- was also voted.

On behalf of the MOC, Vice Minister PhanThi My Linh highly appreciated contribution of Central steering board of VWSA term IV and VWSA’s members were always with the MOC in managing water supply and drainage fields.

Vice Minister PhanThi My Linh addressed that, during the last term, VWSA have actively and positively joined in some MOC’s activities such as preparing document relating to water sector, studying and applying new science, technology into water treatment, managing and operating water supply and sewerage system, training, holding many workshop, seminars to share experience and improve capacity for managers as well as staff. Some other activities were also well carried out such as consultancy, construction implementation and works management and operation, producing and providing material and equipment for water sectorect.

Addressing at the Congress, Mr. Tran Van Nam, Provincial Party Committee Secretary, shown his happiness as the 5th Congress of VWSA was held in Binh Duong. Mr. Tran Van Nam also emphasized: Industrialization andurbanization have taken place quickly. This enables for provincial economic development, however, it also creates many issues to be solved, in which, water supply and drainage assuring for developing requirement are important and urgent issues.

A new steering board of VWSA with 75 members, term V, were voted at the Congress. Mr. Cao Lai Quang won the election again with position of Chairman of VWSA, term 2015-2020.
